Shuttleworth top woman in resources
A qualified metallurgist and chemist, Julie Shuttleworth AM has over 20 years of experience in the mining industry within Australia, China and Tanzania. Her career progressed from plant metallurgist, senior metallurgist, process superintendent, process manager to a variety of general manager positions.
Ms Shuttleworth has been with Fortescue Metals Group since October 2013, becoming deputy chief executive in February 2018 and chief executive of Fortescue Future Industries in August 2020. She had previously spent 13 years with Barrick Gold Corporation.
Ms Shuttleworth is a Member and Chartered Professional of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) and is on the AusIMM Professional Development Committee. She is also a member of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME) and on its International Committee.
In 2021, Ms Shuttleworth was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to the minerals and mining sector.
