In 2016, the company completed its largest ever acquisition: MWH Global, a 6,800-person engineering, consulting, and construction management firm. MWH added acclaimed industry experience in water design, and was able to expand Stantec's geographic presence, as well as share in their dedication to communities.
In 2018, Stantec acquired Traffic Design Group, a New Zealand-based transportation engineering consultancy, to strengthen its Australasian capabilities.
In 2019, Stantec acquired Australian-based Wood & Grieve Engineers.
In 2021, Stantec acquired transport planning firm GTA Consultants. It also acquired Perth-based Engenium which will boost its exposure to the resources and renewable energy sectors in Western Australia.
