David Sourbutts and four partners started Engenium in 2003, after eyeing an opportunity to offer different project delivery services to the resources, rail and infrastructure sectors. He attributes part of the success of Engenium to its focus on people, in particular, maintaining a positive and supportive culture for its 80 employees.
Mr Sourbutts believes in using his business success to positively contribute to improving the lives of the less fortunate and the community with the business providing support to various charities and local sporting clubs.
He has over 20 years of experience in project management and engineering within the mining, rail, processing and infrastructure industries. Mr Sourbutts has had a major role in overseeing the development of startup explorers into successful miners, including the coordination of project delivery from the mine to port.
He has Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia, is a Fellow of Leadership WA, Member of AusIMM, Member of Engineers Australia, and was recognised as one of WA’s top 40 business entrepreneurs with a 40Under40 Award in 2013.
