When health insurer HBF opened its first two of 15 HBF Dental centres earlier this year, it set out to redesign the dental experience for its members.
Dr Daniel Heredia has extensive experience in health management, medical regulation and clinical governance.
He is the executive general manager of insurance and health services at HBF Health and is responsible for HBF’s insurance function including product design and monitoring, actuarial services, provider contracting, claims integrity and chronic disease management programs. Dr Heredia also oversees HBF’s clinical businesses as the managing director of HBF Wellness, which includes HBF Dental and the Life Ready Health Group, and is a director of Queensland Country Health Fund.
Prior to joining HBF Health, Dr Heredia was the deputy chief executive and medical director at Hollywood Private Hospital, one of the largest private hospitals in Australia. He was involved in leading the WA COVID-19 response as the deputy chief executive of COVID-19 Health Operations, and was a medical advisor to Medicare Australia.
Dr Heredia is a practitioner member of the Medical Board of Australia and a board member of Private Healthcare Australia. He was a board member of the WA Country Health Service (where he also chaired the Safety and Quality Board Subcommittee) from 2016 to 2023, a former councillor of the Australian Medical Association WA, served on the Postgraduate Medical Council of WA, and an honorary clinical consultant with The University of Western Australia.
Dr Heredia holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours, an MBA with Distinction, and a Diploma of Public Health. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators, and Fellow of the Australasian College of Health Service Management.
