A PASSION for cooking and cocktails has turned into a lucrative business for Daniel Sterpini, who’s responsible for the direction and growth of Cocktail Gastronomy, which runs a catering service as well as small bar The Classroom.
A brief dalliance with a computer science course ended when Mr Sterpini had doubts about his commitment to the industry and, having cooked at home from the age of eight, he decided to get into hospitality.
By 25 he was the youngest executive chef in Western Australia, working at Chifley on the Terrace.
At one stage in his career Mr Sterpini spent 12 months in Calgary, Alberta, working at fine dining French restaurant La Chaumiere, one of the top 10 restaurants in Canada at the time.
He then began White Kitchen Enterprises, a catering business that won the national award for excellence in food innovation in 2005 for developing healthy meals through health department kitchens.
Cocktail Gastronomy is a member of the Australian Hotels Association of Western Australia and the Small Bar Association of Australia.
In 2012 it won the AHA cocktails and mixology award as well as being named best themed venue, and won the Gold Plate Award for best small bar.
