IN 2005, having just graduated from university, Jo-Anne Dembo started Diet by D’Zyne the old-school way – knocking on doors and letting doctors know she was looking for referrals.
Now, with 17 staff members, including nine dieticians, Mrs Dembo offers a number of services through Diet by D’Zyne, including individual consultations and aged care facility services, while also managing the dietetics department at Peel Health Campus Hospital.
With more than 35 clinics across Perth and regional Western Australia, the business also produces calorie controlled ‘ready-meals’, books and other weight loss tools.
A member of the Dietitians Association of Australia and an accredited practising dietitian, Mrs Dembo’s area of expertise is in the field of bariatric surgery, or gastric banding. She works closely with one of WA’s most prominent surgeons, providing dietetics advice and support to his patients both pre and post-surgery.
As her next challenge, Mrs Dembo would like to further her studies by completing a Sports Dietitians Australia course and implement motivational weight loss workshops.
Diet by D’Zyne also plans to develop a mobile app to further help patients achieve their health goals.
