New Fringe board
Artrage program manager Amber Hasler has been appointed as director of Perth’s Fringe World Festival, while Marcus Canning stays on as chief executive.
Marcus Canning AM is an experienced chief executive within the entertainment industry and non-profit organisations, with expertise in the areas of photography, entrepreneurship, film, and theatre.
Mr Canning holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours, focused in Theory) from University of WA.
He became director and chief executive of Artrage in 2002, and took it from a failing business to a successful, contemporary, cultural organisation. In 2011, under his leadership, Artrage launched the hugely popular Perth Fringe Festival. Prior to joining Artrage, Mr Canning was the creative director of regional network for AWESOME Festival.
In 2021, Mr Canning was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to the arts, and to the community of Perth.
