Sam Walsh joins Australian Council board
The Australian Council for the Arts has welcomed former Rio Tinto chief executive Sam Walsh and fellow Western Australian Kate Fielding to its board.
Kate Fielding is a company director, Commission chair, not-for-profit leader and cultural strategist working in regional and remote development, and the arts and culture sector. Known as a builder of bridges, Ms Fielding is passionate about encouraging change and that regardless of their start in life, anyone can achieve what they put their mind to. In one remote community, she used hairdressing as a way to engage with the locals and develop a successful development program. Ms Fielding holds a B. Arts (Hons.) in History from the University of Melbourne and a B. Creative Arts in Writing from the Victorian College of the Arts. She is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
