WACA reveals $75m upgrade bid
The Western Australian Cricket Association has announced a proposal to redevelop the WACA Ground into a multi-purpose venue and is seeking $60 million from the government to fund it.
The Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) officially began life in 1885 and is cricket's governing body in the State.
In 1893, the Association opened the WACA ground which is home to the Western Warriors, WA's first-class cricket team; Western Fury, the ladies' team; and Perth Scorchers, the Big Bash League T20 franchise and 3-time BBL winners.
The pitch is one of the fastest and bounciest in the world, with 4 of the fastest 7 test centuries in history having been scored on the ground.
