Jonathan Smith grew up in Derby as a young Aboriginal boy, leaving school in Year 10 to start an electrical apprenticeship.
After gaining experience in a wide range of fields including mining, power and general electrical maintenance work, he set up his own business, Wattnow Electrical in 2010. Staff numbers have grown and with a 7-figure revenue, his business services parts of the vast Kimberley region.
Mr Smith was named WA’s regional small business of the year.
