Placemaking at forefront of urban design
Planning practices are evolving to put people first as Perth redefines itself as a modern city.
Carla Chatzopoulos established Place Match in 2011 after recognising the opportunity to develop a new approach to urban planning that would help communities create better public spaces. Place Match has collaborated with government, developers and communities to influence some of WA’s most iconic places. Flagship projects include the Scarborough Beach Place master plan, which supports the repositioning of Scarborough. Ms Chatzopoulos has lectured at Curtin University, from where she received her Commerce degree.

Perth’s biggest town planning firm has just gotten bigger, merging with placemaking consultancy Place Match.TPG Town Planning Urban Design and Heritage announced the merger today, with the new entity, TPG-Place Match, to have 48 staff.
With construction nearing its end point, the WA Museum is shifting its focus to content development at the state’s newest cultural facility.
