Ian Goodenough

Ian Goodenough's diverse business interests include commercial and residential property development, land subdivision, and the manufacture, and the wholesaling of electrical and mechanical pipe support systems to the commercial construction industry.

At age 21, he invested $85,000 borrowed from his parents into a 35 per cent share in Pipe Supports Australia, a fledgling manufacturing and wholesale business. Over a period of eight years, the company has supplied products to several landmark projects in Perth and has built up significant equity in its business premises. In 1998, he and his business partner invested in a project to build four Scarborough townhouses. Since then, their company, Westcapital Group, has gone from strength to strength. In 2005, Mr Goodenough formed a joint venture between Westcapital and Claymont Land to undertake more capital-intensive land subdivision projects and larger scale property development. The company now has significant land holdings in Gingin, Southern River and Maddington, and is involved in an East Perth development project.

One of Mr Goodenough’s greatest achievements was admittance to the prestigious executive development program at Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

A City of Wanneroo councillor for the past six years, he is actively involved in his community on many levels. In August 2022, Mr Goodenough was appointed the second deputy speaker for Federal Parliament. He was a a member of the speaker’s panel in the House of Representatives for eight years, and was responsible for chairing Parliament meetings, ensuring they are conducted in an orderly manner and according to the standing orders.
