Bolstered Macquarie comes out top in a lean year for corporate finance
Competition in the state’s investment banking sector is hotter than ever despite a fall-off in takeover deals and capital raisings last year.
Brian Beresford has provided corporate advice to clients across the resources, mining services, engineering and technology sectors for over 20 years.
Prior to joining Euroz Hartleys in 2011, he was a partner at PwC where he led the corporate finance and M&A practice in Western Australia.
One of Mr Beresford’s significant business achievements was his appointment as director of GEM consulting in January 2004. Established in 1996, GEM consulting is a leading management consulting and corporate advisory form. Formerly a manager at GEM, Mr Beresford and his fellow directors have continued the business’s success after the departure of its founding partners in early 2004. While at GEM, Mr Beresford has advised clients on strategy projects, private and public capital raisings, mergers and acquisitions, commercial due diligence, group restructuring and capital investment decisions. His clients have included large WA utilities and resources companies, as well as smaller technology and life science companies. The firm has performed strongly over the past two years and is looking to expand from 18 to 20 staff in 2006, further enhancing its standing as one of Perth’s premier strategy consulting firms.
