Stephen Scott was appointed State Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in November 2002 following an impressive career with the Australian Government.
Prior to his appointment as State Director, Mr Scott was a member of a small team responsible for drafting the Government’s forthcoming White Paper on Foreign and Trade Policy.
Mr Scott has also been a director in the International Economic and Finance section of DFAT where he was responsible for briefing portfolio ministers on global economic development with the potential to affect Australia’s international interests, and a director of the Economic Analytical Unit.
Overseas, Mr Scott was First Secretary (Economic) at the Australian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur from 1996-2000.
