In her position as Mission Australia manager of corporate and community partnerships, Liz McComish has the task of attracting support for welfare programs. Fighting against the common perception of non-profit work as soup kitchens and emergency handouts, Ms McComish has had great success redefining welfare delivery by creating innovative and synergistic solutions that meet business and welfare needs. One of her key successes has been establishing and securing funding for an early crime prevention program and an education program in Girawheen. By securing corporate support from The Fogarty Foundation, Westpac Foundation and Perpetual Trustees, worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, the two programs will work to maximise the well being of children in the target community.
