Perth business wins global tech award
Perth-based Illuminance Solutions has claimed a global technology award, winning a Microsoft 2019 partner of the year award.
Nilesh Makwana has been a part of the ICT sector since 1996, progressing from software developer to business manager.
Arriving in Perth from India in 2012 with no business or social contacts, Mr Makwana was co-founder of Illuminance Solutions which has provided support to empower the elderly, Indigenous and those living with a disability in parts of Western Australia. The company won the Multicultural Business Award as part of Harmony Week 2021 for its commitment to diverse workplace where his team of 30 staff represent 24 nationalities speaking 34 different languages.
Mr Makwana is also a co-founder of WA-based not-for-profit Borderless Gandhi.
Mr Makwana became an Australian citizen on Australia Day in 2019. In May 2021, he was named an Auspire Australia Day Ambassador for WA.
