Auspire, Australia Day Council WA is an independent membership-based not-for-profit association founded in 1977, and collaborates as part of the ‘national family’ of eight State and Territory Australia Day Councils. It operates in the civics and citizenship capacity building space and delivers education, training and recognition programs which encourage a sense of belonging, and a desire to contribute to creating stronger, more inclusive and resilient communities.
Its mission is delivered against three strategic pillars:
* Acknowledging history through cultural awareness and reconciliation;
* Celebrating the present with awards that identify and recognise people delivering community strengthening and capacity building outcomes; and
* Future-focused by promoting and encouraging diversity, inclusiveness, social and cultural cohesion.
Auspire runs a number of programs throughout the year including The Australian of the Year Awards, Aussie of the Month in primary schools, Citizen of the Year Awards through WA Local Government, Inspiring Australians Leaders in Citizenship events, Civics and Citizenship educational workshops, masterclasses and forums for CaLD communities, and Aboriginal Cultural competency and awareness training.
