Dr Paola Magni is shaping the future of global crime investigation through her research on how sea creatures found in association with human bodies can help crack some of the toughest murder mysteries.

Dr Magni has developed smartphone app SmartInsects, which assists in the work of law enforcement agencies and pathologists at crime scenes worldwide.

In March 2022, Dr Magni was inducted into the WA Women’s Hall of Fame under the STEM category. The WA Women's Hall of Fame was established on International Women's Day in 2011.
