David Flanagan AM CitWA is a geologist and mining executive with over 30 years of experience in mining operations and resource development within Australia, Indonesia and Africa.
Mr Flanagan has been appointed a consultant of Arrow Minerals in December 2023, and will become managing director in late January 2024 subject to shareholder approval.
Mr Flanagan founded Atlas Iron in 2004 and was a key figure in the company, serving in roles as managing director and chair until his departure in 2016. Prior to his time with Atlas Mr Flanagan, who is a trained geologist, was exploration manager with Gindalbie Gold. He was also a non-executive director of Shaw River Manganese, in which Atlas held a significant interest.
He was chancellor of Murdoch University from 2013 to 2019, and was awarded the Governor’s Award in for giving in 2011. He was also the recipient of the 2009 Business News 40under40 First Amongst Equals award.
In 2014, Mr Flanagan was named the West Australian Of The Year and West Australian Business Leader Of The Year. He was awarded a Eisenhower fellowship in 2013.
In January 2018, Mr Flanagan was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for services to mining, community and education.
