Solaris Cancer Care Foundation is a community-based healthcare organisation. Its cancer support centres are the first of their kind in Australia and offer support, information, education and complementary therapies to cancer patients and their primary carers. All its services are free of charge and its therapies are provided by qualified practitioners who volunteer their time and skills to ensure that our patients receive the best possible care and support. It encourages and supports communication between all health care professionals, complementary therapists and cancer patients with the aim of enhancing the understanding between these groups. Its research continues to provide evidence of an improvement in quality-of-life following a complementary therapy session, and may provide a reduction in symptom distress.
