Wyllie Group is a family-owned boutique investment company with a diverse range of investments.
It was established by Bill Wyllie who made his fortune in Hong Kong rescuing and resuscitating ailing companies, usually on a profit or share participation basis. In a June 1977 cover story, TIME Magazine described him as 'South East Asia's Most Successful Corporate Doctor.' Mr Wyllie sold his controlling interest in Asia Securities International for over HK$800 million (approximately $140m) early in 1991 and announced his intention to retire from active business in Hong Kong. Mr Wyllie returned to Perth to live in the 1992. He passed away in 2006.
His wife Rhonda and his step-daughter Melissa (Karlson) are executive directors. His step-son Luke is also on the board.
Wyllie has major investments in WA such as the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre and Sorrento Quay. It also runs a private equity fund called Viburnum.
