Atkins heads CCIWA
John Atkins, who is ANZ Bank WA chairman and Lotterywest chairman, has been elected as president of the general council and chairman of the board of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia. He replaces GR Engineering and Matrix Composites and Engineering director Peter Hood, who remains a member of the CCI general council and a director on the board. Seven West Media WA chief executive Chris Wharton joins Lamonts proprietor Kate Lamont in the role of vice-president, and Verve Energy CEO Shirley In’t Veld has also been appointed to the board. Former president and chair Warwick Hemsley has retired from the board and general council.
Skira joins Water Corp
Banking and finance expert Eva Skira has been appointed to the board of the Water Corporation for a two-year term, following the retirement of Zelinda Bafile. Ms Skira is deputy chancellor of Murdoch University and a director of RCR Tomlinson and MDA National Insurance.
Denton chairs SEA
WorleyParsons director of infrastructure and environment Australia/New Zealand Greg Denton has been appointed as the new chair of the Sustainable Energy Association of Australia. He replaces retiring chair Bob Blakiston, who is managing director of SunPower Corporation Australia. UWA’s Western Australian Geothermal Centre of Excellence business manager and board member Sean Webb has been appointed as vice-chair. SolarMatrix managing director Durmus Yildiz has also been appointed as a board member.
Craig joins TFS
Indian sandalwood producer TFS Corporation has appointed Jim Craig as a non-executive independent director. A former lawyer, Mr Craig is chairman of Macquarie Capital (Melbourne) and the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute investment committee.
Fletcher chairs development council
Former BHP Billiton vice-president of external affairs WA Ian Fletcher has been appointed as the new chairperson of the Regional Development Council, the advisory body to Regional Development Minister Brendon Grylls. Mr Fletcher was chief of staff to WA premier Richard Court.
