Ian Fletcher AM is well-known figure in government and corporate sectors, most notably with regard to regional and mining matters.
Mr Fletcher’s more recent roles have included being chair of the state government’s Regional Development Council and a member of the WA Museum board.
He has more than 45 years of experience in the public and private sectors. He has served as First Assistant Secretary and State Director for a number of Australian Government departments, department head in the Tasmanian Government and chief executive of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. He was also chief executive of the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Canberra; principal of Fletcher Rowe & Associates; chief of staff to WA Premier Richard Court; principal private secretary to the Federal Minister for Social Security, Senator Fred Chaney; vice president of external affairs at BHP Billiton, Western Australia; founding chair of Miners’ Promise (Mineworkers Trust) which is a legacy for families of those killed in the resources industry.
In 2016, Mr Fletcher was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for his significant service to the community of Western Australia through roles with cultural development, business, public administration and mining organisations.
