Why Anglicare WA's chair is voting ‘yes’ for the Voice
Anglicare WA chair John Atkins has joined 450 company directors to say 'yes' in the referendum vote.
John Atkins AO serves as a non-executive director of BWP Trust, Minotaur Exploration, and Australian Finance Group. He was WA managing partner of national law firm Freehills (now Herbert Smith Freehills) before becoming a company director.
Mr Atkins started his law career as a clerk with Parker & Parker, and was managing partner when the merger with Freehills took place in 2000.
In January 2019, Mr Atkins was made an Officer of the Order of Australia for service to the business and financial sectors, the legal profession, and the community.
In December 2021, Mr Atkins was awarded the PwC Director Award for Excellence in the WA Not-for-Profit Sector by the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
