Pettit chairs Port Hedland port board
Kenneth Pettit has been appointed as chair of the Port Hedland Port Authority board, following the recent resignation of Ian Williams, who held the position for eight years. His primary focus will be to meet the anticipated large growth in export tonnages through the port, which is Australia’s busiest by tonnage. Mr Pettit has 25 years experience as a lawyer and barrister, practising from Francis Burt Chambers. He is also a non-executive director of Mindax Resources and is on the boards of the Diabetes Research Foundation and the Keogh Institute for Medical Research.
Capricorn recruits Wall
Automotive parts co-operative Capricorn Society has appointed Greg Wall as the new group chief executive officer. Mr Wall is a non-executive director of Automotive Holdings Group, Freo Group, WA Football Commission and the Ear Science Institute of Australia. He was previously managing director of Home Building Society and CEO of StateWest Credit Society. Mr Wall replaces Trent Bartlett, who retired at the end of June but remained as a special consultant to ensure a smooth transition.
Ashley retires from Kagara
Mark Ashley has stepped down from his position as a non-executive director of base metals producer Kagara. Mr Ashley was Kagara’s founding managing director and leaves the company as part of an ongoing process of restructuring the board. He is the managing director of Apex Minerals and has previously also held senior positions with Cluff Resources, Normandy Mining, Metallica Minerals and Lion Ore.
Burston quits FMG
Ian Burston has retired as a non-executive director of WA iron ore miner Fortescue Metals Group. Dr Burston joined the FMG board in October 2008 and has been a member of the audit and risk committee since that time. He is replaced by Geoff Raby, previously Australia’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China and a Deputy Secretary in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
