Westpork was formed in 1985 by building a 400 sow farrow to finish facility. By 2002 Westpork had grown such that it was selling 98,000 animals.
In 2018 Westpork owned and operated six farms, with a total of 14,000 sows producing 35% of the state's pork. Approximately half of the animals Westpork sells are grown out by contract farmers.
The company acquired the assets of GD Pork in 2019, which is understood to have brought its market share to 45% of the state production.
Westpork has supplied pork to the D'Orsogna smallgoods business since the 1980s, and ASIC records show that in 2019 D'Orsogna family members held more than a third of Westpork's shares.
