Shark Bay is located at the most westerly point of Australia, midway along the coast of Western Australia.
The major population centre is Denham, a town of about 600 people located in the centre of the bay and a distance of about 820km from the state capital of Perth.
Shark Bay is a pristine combination of Marine Parks and National Parks, all part of the Shark Bay World Heritage Area where the great Australian outback meets the glorious Indian Ocean.
The Shire includes the towns of Billabong, Denham, Monkey Mia, Nanga, Overlander, and Useless Loop.
