Owen belatedly admits extra Stokes link
Royal commissioner Neville Owen has sought to quash any concerns about conflicts of interest by acknowledging he is a director of a key company in Kerry Stokes' business empire.
Australian Capital Equity Pty Ltd is Perth business magnate Kerry Stokes' main private company. Through ACE and other private companies including Wroxby Pty Ltd, Mr Stokes controls an expansive business empire. ACE's main asset is a controlling stake in ASX-listed Seven Group Holdings, through which he also controls ASX company Seven West Media. ACE also owns a major stake in salt company BCI Minerals, along with interests in honey production, pastoral stations and one of Australia's largest art collections. ACE's ultimate parent entity is the Griffin Trust of which the trustee is Clabon Pty Ltd.
