Melbourne-based company director Peter Lowe has replaced John Langoulant as chair of two major gas companies, adding to his many other roles including chair of DGL Group.
Mr Lowe has been appointed chair of DBP – which owns and operates the Dampier to Bunbury gas pipeline – after being a director since 2017.
He has also been appointed chair of Australian Gas Infrastructure Developments, which provides engineering and construction services on gas projects.
Its projects include new infrastructure for the Waitsia gas field development, a new gas connection to Albemarle’s lithium refinery at Kemerton and the interconnector between Woodside’s LNG plants.
Both entities are part of Australian Gas Infrastructure Group, which is owned by Hong Kong-based conglomerate CK Infrastructure Holdings.
AGIG also encompasses Victorian gas distribution company Multinet, which Mr Lowe already chairs, and east coast gas distribution company Australian Gas Networks, where he is a non-executive director.
In addition, he is chairman of Melbourne-based utility United Energy, which is also owned by CK Infrastructure Holdings.
Mr Lowe’s other roles include chairing specialist chemicals company DGL Group, which has substantially expanded its Western Australian operations this year through two acquisitions.
In August it bought Kwinana-based Opal Australasia for $8.6 million.
Opal has been operating for 20 years and is one of only two independent agricultural chemical toll manufacturing companies in Western Australia.
In September, DGL purchased Wangara-based Profill Industries for $7.6 million.
Profill is a chemical manufacturer that services the home and garden, fertiliser, agricultural and industrial markets.
Auckland-based DGL listed on the ASX in May after raising $100 million.
Its operation across Australia and New Zealand include warehousing and distribution facilities in Welshpool.
Mr Lowe’s numerous past roles have included being chair of WA Gas Networks, which was acquired by ATCO Australia in 2011.
His new appointments come shortly after Australian Gas Infrastructure Group appointed Craig de Laine as chief executive, replacing Ben Wilson who returned to the United Kingdom.
