Barry Fitzgerald has been working for Hancock Prospecting on the Roy Hill Project since June 2010 and was chief executive of Roy Hill Holdings from May 2012 to June 2021. In July 2021, Mr Fitzgerald was appointed to the Roy Hill board as a representative for majority owner, Hancock Prospecting. He was also appointed to the board of Hope Downs, Hancock’s joint venture with Rio Tinto. In January 2023, Mr FItzgerald also took on the role of technical director, iron ore for the Hancock Group.
Mr Fitzgerald was chief executive of CITIC Pacific Mining and held senior management positions with BHP Iron Ore, BHP Engineering, Henry Walker Eltin, Simon Engineering and Roche Process Engineering. He has a broad range of project experience in the construction, engineering and maintenance sectors.
