Toronto-listed gold miner and explorer Novo Resources Corporation has unveiled a series of “high-order” soil sampling assay results from exploration work completed late last year at its Nunyerry North gold prospect in the West Pilbara region of WA. According to the company the work has advanced its understanding of the region’s prospectivity ahead of additional sampling and drill testing.
The prospect, known as Nunyerry North forms part of the larger Croydon project that is joint ventured with the celebrated Creasy Group. Novo holds 70 per cent of the project.
Novo says it has defined a high-grade gold anomaly running over 100 parts per billion gold along a strike length of 640 metres that importantly, remains open to the west.
According to the company, ten soil samples delivered grades of more than 1 gram per tonne gold and almost thirty samples returned grades of over 0.5 g/t gold. Some of the better results from the sampling program include 2.3 g/t gold, 2.13 g/t gold, 1.84 g/t gold and 1.59 g/t gold. With a result of 1.84 g/t gold achieved on the western margins of the sampling grid, Novo believes the soil anomaly appears to shift across a fault that runs through the ground.
In addition, the company says a rock chip sample program at Nunyerry North yielded similarly impressive results with a number of high-grade hits being registered from sampling of quartz veins. Some of the notable rock chip results at Nunyerry include 30.3 g/t gold, 21.1 g/t gold and 19 g/t gold.
The company says it is now gearing up to complete additional soil sampling, detailed mapping and rock chip programs to develop the western fringe of the main anomaly. It will also launch a similar play across a brace of supplementary soil anomalies to the west and south of the main target zone. Success in either direction could see the company break out the drill bit with planning for a follow-up drill campaign already underway.
Novo Resources Corporation's Non-Executive Co-Chairman Dr. Quinton Hennigh said:“The results from Nunyerry North are an exciting development in our Pilbara exploration program,”
“Identification of these prospects at Nunyerry North is the first step in advancing our understanding of prospectivity in the region, and we look forward to progressing further sampling and drilling efforts during 2022.”
Nunyerry North was initially discovered about 6 years ago by the Creasy Group after finding fine gold sediments in several streams cutting across the ground’s tenure. A subsequent rock chip sampling program yielded high-grade hits including 81.0 g/t gold, 73.1 g/t gold and 40.3 g/t gold.
Novo will now look to dive deeper into Nunyerry North and carve out a slice of the previous high-grade results for itself and with the Creasy Group lending its eagle eye to the process, things could get interesting quickly.
