Great Southern hits ounce plus dirt at Cox’s Find

Great Southern has backed up its maiden drilling results released last month, with ounce-plus hits rolling off the drill bit at its northern Goldfields based Cox’s Find project. Second-round results include 5 meters grading a magical ounce to the tonne gold from 134m down-hole that includes a super-high one-metre zone grading 143g/t gold.

The ASX-listed multi-commodity explorer is the first company to conduct any substantial exploration at the historical Cox’s Find in 25 years and the first to drill below 60m in-depth, potentially opening up a well-preserved pandora’s box for the Perth based explorationist.

The project is an ex-WMC open pit and underground mining operation 65km north of Laverton. It produced just under 76,000 ounces at an impressive 22.6g/t gold in its day when WMC mined the underground material by hand, with an amazing historical cut-off grade of 12g/t gold.

Importantly, it looks as if Great Southern’s newest confirmatory drill holes are stacking up well against old production records and historical gold intercepts.

Company Chairman and experienced miner John Terpu said: “The maiden RC drilling program has confirmed the extension of the main high-grade lode structure at Cox’s Find and that there is significant remnant mineralization left”.

“It’s early days and we still await further results of the drilling program, however, the current results demonstrate that the Cox’s Find Gold Project is one of the highest, if not the highest, grading deposits along the immediate strike”.

Next on Great Southern’s to-do list is to review all results of the current program and come up with a development drilling plan, presumably with the intention to wrap a refreshed resource or some economics around Cox’s Find – ounce plus hits are a good start.
