The company will acquire remote geophysical data and complete on-site mapping and surface sampling at the project during this quarter. The project area is centred 12km from the company’s flagship Mon Ami gold project that contains at least 59,000 gold ounces.

Rock chip samples up to 0.38g/t gold and 6.9g/t silver were returned from the hydrothermal intrusion. The company is now fast-tracking approvals and consents for RC and diamond drill testing at the prospect.

Great Southern’s rock chip samples taken from weathered and oxidised gossanous outcrop at the SW-1 prospect of its emerging Edinburgh Park project in northern Queensland has returned high grade results of up to 10.6g/t gold, 315g/t silver and 1.95% copper. Further mapping and sampling programs are being carried out to better define the polymetallic prospect.

The company will grid-drill the entire area with a 100m x 50m spacing to deliver around 500 shallow holes down to just 1-6m below surface. ASX-listed explorer Great Southern Mining has received more high-grade gold sniffs from a new round of drilling at its second-string Mon Ami gold project near Laverton in WA. The new results follow on from its encouraging high-grade drill hits at the project a couple of years ago. Notable intersections from the latest drilling were 11m grading 7.9 g/t gold from 26m including 4m at 15.9 g/t, and 4m at 12.4 g/t from 80m.

Great Southern Mining is further investigating the size and extent of two bedrock conductors with a follow-up fixed-loop electromagnetic survey at its East Laverton project in Western Australia. The conductors eked out from the recent geophysical survey are considered highly prospective for massive nickel sulphide mineralisation. One identified anomaly spanned a massive 2km by 1km that the company says provides a “compelling drill target”.

Junior gold explorer Great Southern Mining says a two-hole probe of its Southern Star deposit has confirmed a significant mineralised system. The deposit forms part of the Duketon gold project about 45 kilometres north of Laverton in WA. The company says both diamond holes intersected a mineralised quartz dolerite unit and gold-bearing assemblages that could be part of a larger system.

Gold and nickel explorer Great Southern Mining is bringing the drill back to its 100 per cent owned Duketon gold project to commence a 5000 metre RC program on the Southern Star orebody, where previous exploration yielded stunning results up to 56 g/t gold. The company is looking to focus on a southern extension of a lookalike magnetic high feature similar to the existing orebody.
