Wayne Salvage was appointed chief executive of North Metropolitan Health Service in May 2016, having acted in the role since July 2015. He has worked in health service policy and management since 1990, initially in the National Health Service followed by five years in health service planning and contract management roles in the Northern Sydney Area Health Service in NSW. Since joining the WA Department of Health in 1998, Mr Salvage has worked in health system resourcing and strategy, playing a leading role in budget strategy formulation and resource allocation, infrastructure planning and co-ordination, financial management, performance evaluation and engagement with the State and Commonwealth governments on public hospital financing arrangements and infrastructure development. He has also acted as chief executive of the WA Country Health Service. Mr Salvage has been a member of the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre Trust since 2009, and was involved in the redevelopment of the QEIIMC campus in that capacity.
