Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) is one of Australia 's leading teaching tertiary hospitals. The hospital has over 600 beds and employs approximately 5,500 staff who treat over 420,000 patients every year. It is home to WA's only comprehensive cancer centre - the largest cancer treatment centre in the State - and is the state's principal hospital for neurosurgery and liver transplants. It is a teaching hospital for medical graduates from the University of Western Australia and the University of Notre Dame Australia.
SCGH is named after Sir Charles Gairdner, a former governor of Western Australia.
