Lonely at the top for WA’s female directors
IF you were a woman on the board of any of Western Australia's top 100 ASX-listed companies, you'd be in rare company.
Valerie Davies holds more than 20 years of experience working with boards of listed companies and providing high level communication advice to numerous blue-chip companies and government trading enterprises.
Ms Davies is the managing director of One.2.One Communications Pty Limited, a consultancy specialising in strategic communication and issues management across diverse sectors and industries. Ms Davies is a previous winner of the Telstra Businesswoman of the Year (WA) Award for her work as a founder of video production group Editel.
She was a past vice president of the Australian Institute of Company Directors WA Division, and a director of HBF in October 2005 and chair of subsidiary HealthGuard Health Benefits Fund from 2012 until its formal deregistration in May 2016. Ms Davies also serves on the board of Event Hospitality & Entertainment and Cedar Woods Properties and is also a commissioner of Tourism Western Australia. She has previously served as a non-executive director of Iluka Resources , Tourism Australia, Integrated Group , Gold Corporation, Asia Research Institute – Murdoch University, Totalisator Agency Board (TAB) WA, ScreenWest, the board of management of Fremantle Hospital and Health Service, Relationships Australia and Youth Focus.

Peter Prendiville and Howard Cearns will continue as Tourism WA chair and deputy chair respectively for another three year term, Tourism Minister Kim Hames announced today.
Valerie Davies has been appointed as an independent non-executive director of Cedar Woods Properties. Ms Davies is on the boards of Amalgamated Holdings Ltd as well as HBF Health Fund and Tourism WA.
Valerie Davies has a background in media and communications, but her public role today is as a board member of Cedar Woods, Event Hospitality & Entertainment, HBF and the WA Tourism Commission, as well as running her own consultancy.
Di Bain has been named Tourism WA chair and Anneke Brown and Janelle Marr have been appointed to the board after six members announced their resignations earlier this year.
