Queensland-focused Superior Resources has kicked off a significant new drilling program that will look to build on its gold resource base and follow up intriguing copper exploration signals at Greenvale in the state’s north. Managing Director, Peter Hwang says the planned 8,000 metres of drilling is shaping up as a defining step for the company and its bold blueprint for a greater Greenvale gold-copper production hub.

Superior Resources has delivered a 10m gold intercept going 2.8 g/t gold from the first hole at the Steam Engine lode, located at its Greenvale project 210km west of Townsville in Queensland. The result, in conjunction with visual observations of thick mineralised zones in other holes, has prompted the company to launch into another 5,000m of drilling aiming to grow the 122,000-ounce deposit at the Steam Engine prospect.

A second batch of assay results from a further eight reverse circulation holes through Superior Resources’ Steam Engine prospect has got pulses racing at the company, with impressive gold grades including 7 metres at 3.7 g/t gold which contained 4m at 5.0 g/t. The results are from the company’s 13,000-metre drilling campaign at its Greenvale project, approximately 210km west of Townsville, Queensland.

The company says the results confirm a down-dip thickening and extension to the lode as well as the presence of additional shallow, high grade zones.

Stellar assay results received include a 21m wide hit grading at 2.2 grams per tonne gold from 160m downhole and an 8m intercept that came in at 2.8g/t gold from 154m downhole.

The company says the results from its first entry into the old Pancontinental prospects are a sign it could be on to a mineralised system significantly larger than previously thought.

Superior Resources appears to have tapped into the outer edges of a large, buried porphyry system at the company’s Bottletree copper prospect in Queensland. Assay results from the first of three diamond drill holes targeting an induced polarisation anomaly have returned a massive 552.5 metre intersection at 0.16 per cent copper with peak grades of 4m returning 1.32 per cent copper.

Recently received assay results from a drill campaign completed in December show impressive figures with a 6m intercept at 1.39 per cent molybdenum from 470m including a 1m section at an outstanding 5.2 per cent molybdenum from 474m.
