Niche focus, R&D investment propelling local manufacturers ahead of the wave
Innovation is enabling a handful of WA manufacturers to survive in a market under increasing pressure.
VEEM is a marine technology company specialising primarily in propulsion and stabilisation systems. VEEM also manufactures bespoke manufactured products and services to the marine, defence and mining industries. In 1989 the company acquired propeller manufacturer SS Engineering, and was involved in manufacturing for the Collins Class submarines. It has more recently become involved in the development of gyrostabilisers for use on superyachts and commercial craft.
The company was founded by Voyka and Elizabeth Miocevich in 1968, with their sons Brad, Gary (who passed away in 2015) and Mark taking over control in 1982.
In 2016, the company announced plans for a $25 million IPO which valued the company at $65 million.
