John and Maria Re opened their first Northbridge store in 1931 and later moved to the well-known Lake Street site in 1936. The family opened European Foods Wholesalers in 1959, which was sold to the Yukich family's Oakover Group in 2018. The Re Store is now owned by the children of Aurora Berti (nee Re), one of the four daughters of John and Maria Re.
