The Push For Better Foundation aims to engage and educate people in mental and physical health, and raise awareness of the mental health issues affecting Australians. It was launched in October 2020 by Nick Hudson and is a registered health promotion charity with a focus on the prevention and early intervention of depression, anxiety and suicide.
Its flagship event is the annual Push-Up Challenge where people register to do a targeted amount of push-ups over a 24-day period, and track their push-ups via a phone app. The target number of push-ups changes each year to mirror the most recent statistics of people who died by suicide. Funds raised had benefitted several mental health charities including Lifeline, Headspace, and Movember.
