PC Locs schools competitors on innovation
PAUL Symons could never have predicted the tangent his life would take when he left his job as a high school teacher in 1998 to start Malaga-based company PC Locs.
PC Locs designs and manufactures products that store, charge, secure and transport various mobile devices. PC Locs' global headquarters is based in Perth but the company initially began operating out of a backyard shed at the home of co-owner Paul Symons, where he developed a solution for securing desktop computers in 1998 which went on to have a radical impact on reducing computer theft throughout Australia. Less than three years later, the introduction laptops changed the market, threatening the long-term sustainability of a business built on securing purely stationary PCs. The company developed a new product line - a mobile charging trolley for laptops - and subsequently established itself as a leader within a rapidly growing market for mobile computer labs.
