Contractors compete for Metronet builds
Six preferred bidders have been announced for three Metronet projects, including consortiums led by Downer EDI and Laing O’Rourke for the $481 million Byford rail extension.
ACCIONA is one of the foremost Spanish business corporations, and a leader in the development and management of infrastructure, renewable energy, water and services.
It has been active in Australia since 2002, initially via its renewable energy business. It built and operates the Mundaring water treatment plant, via the ACCIONA TRILITY joint venture.
ACCIONA acquired Melbourne-based Geotech Group in 2017 for $262 million. This led to the creation of a new subsidiary, ACCIONA Geotech Holding. Privately-owned Geotech Group comprised three businesses - Geotech Pty Ltd (civil engineering), Coleman Rail (railway construction) and John Beever (industrial engineering).
In September 2019, ACCIONA acquired the Lendlease Engineering business increasing Acciona’s capability and capacity in the region.
