Lindian Resources’ high-grade “conglomerate” hosted bauxite deposit at its Gaoual project in Guinea continues to bulk up, with the company confirming that it has extended the Bouba plateau by another kilometre to the north. Lindian has also verified the presence of conglomerate bauxite at Bouba South, which is currently sized at about half a kilometre by 2.5km.
Drilling across these new areas has now been completed with visual confirmation of the potentially lucrative bauxite conglomerate by the Geologists in the field.
Lindian said the northern extension of Bouba is between 4m to 7m thick from the surface.
Bouba South is about 1.5km from the main Bouba plateau and the company said it is encouraged by the visual nature of the rocks, which suggest that high grade bauxite may be present with an average width of 5m, starting from the surface.
Lindian has previously indicated that the Bouba Plateau covers an area about five kilometres square.
Managing Director Shannon Green said: “Drilling confirmation that these two areas are as we believed to be Conglomerate Bauxite is another fantastic outcome for the project as we continue to build scale.”
“The potential for Bouba south to be even higher grade than Bouba is extremely exciting for us and with our Geologists continuing to undertake high quality field works the potential for further Conglomerate Bauxite discoveries is high.”
Now that its maiden drill hole samples will make their way to the laboratory in the coming weeks, the company will no doubt be waiting in anticipation for the numbers.
Grades and impurities from the drill program will no doubt be highly anticipated, given that conglomerates generally have impressively high grades when compared to standard “in situ” deposits.
Impurities area big deal for bauxite and the level of impurities associated with the project will no doubt be just as highly anticipated by the market.
Lindian was getting real-time hints of its drilling success at Bouba with portable XRF sampling equipment throwing up preliminary unconfirmed numbers like 10 metres grading a very significant 62.7% aluminium oxide, 4.5% silica and 8.1% iron oxide - it will be interesting to get a first look at the numbers as they roll in from the lab.
Lindian has also confirmed that its other target, Mamaya, is a large - roughly11 kilometres square, in situ bauxite plateau with drilling intersecting widths of around 15 metres.
Lindian’s flagship Gaoual project is located around 165 kilometres northeast of the Kamsar port.
The company can acquire an initial 51% interest in Gaoual from KB Bauxite Guinea SARLU and its sole shareholder, Guinea Bauxite, by pumping USD$1 million into the ground over the next few years.
It also has the right to move to a 75% holding via a longer-term deal after certain project milestones have been achieved and further monies spent on the project.
