ASX listed upstart telco Vonex’s success in growing its cloud based PBAX telephony business continues unabated with the company now boasting 25,000 registered users as at the end of October 2018, up 25% from the same time in 2017.
Office based wall mounted telephone exchanges are rapidly heading the way of the bowler hat or the VHS video and Vonex’s extraordinary growth in the area is testament to the significant market demand that exists in this burgeoning technology category.
The ongoing rollout of the NBN has resulted in customers that were on the old Telstra copper cabled network service having to either re-sign with their existing provider or perhaps move to a new supplier. Vonex identified this opportunity early and set about building a bells and whistles cloud based solution that was ready and waiting for the inevitable movement of telco customers when the NBN came rolling into town.
The company said the increase represents a growth rate of about 500 users a month.
Further growth is expected too as the second phase of Vonex’s very successful marketing campaign across Australian capital cities hits its stride.
This will be supported by an ongoing recruitment program of new channel partners that will take Vonex’s product suite to market.
So far this financial year the company has already recruited 27 new channel partners who are typically IT businesses and managed serviced providers.
In addition, the recent launch of “Vonex Phone” will enable Vonex to target new customers by offering smartphones with full access to all the features of its cloud-based PABX telephony systems.
Each Vonex Phone mobile app deployed will register as a new user, which in turn will generate additional revenue from monthly fees charged to end users.
Vonex’s cloud PBAX system allows for unlimited lines and telephone numbers to be created - and sometimes within just minutes.
Calls are placed over the internet instead of via costly telco fixed lines and the resultant savings are quite material.
Managing Director Matthew Fahey said: “The marketing rollout and Channel Partner recruitment drive, coupled with new product initiatives like Vonex Phone, will accelerate growth as evidenced by continual increase in registered PBX users.”
Vonex is clearly on the move in a market place that is being significantly disturbed by the advent of the NBN.
With revenues jumping from $7m in FY2017 to $8.3m in FY2018, Vonex is showing that it isn’t just another tech company with a good idea but no revenue.
