Doric Contractors has been named as the preferred contractor for the $118 million construction of the new Busselton hospital, adding to its recent spate of contract wins.
The new medical facilities will include 64 overnight beds, 20 same-day beds, a renal unit, two theatres, a procedure room and expansion of the emergency department.
Doric Group CEO Peter Iancov told WA Business News he was optimsitic negotiations would be completed within the month.
"In the current environment with commercial construction at a reasonably low level we’re pleased to have won the Busselton and Acacia prison contracts in such a short space of time," said Mr Iancov.
"We are interested in technical building projects, which both of them are."
Mr Iancov hoped to complete construction before the June 2014 prediction.
Funding for the project is shared between State and Federal government and the Royalties for Regions program.
Doric's other projects include the $90 million Acacia prison expansion and the WA Institute of Medical Research building at the QEII Medical Centre.
Previous health projects have included the Hedland health campus, Denmark health service, Bethesda Hospital redevelopment and Broome health service.
