Empire Energy Group is a step closer to launching a nine-hole drill program at its Carpentaria pilot project in the Northern Territory, having secured key environmental approvals and a production licence for up to 12 wells. The Ensign #965 rig is onsite and ready to start drilling the Carpentaria-5H well imminently, with Halliburton contracted for hydraulic fracture stimulation.

ChemX Materials has been awarded nearly $662,000 by the Federal Government through a research and development rebate for its pioneering chemistry-focussed, patented high-purity alumina research. The cash boost is some $100,000 more than the company was originally estimated to receive under its R&D grant eligibility and will be directed to help drive its 24-tonne per annum HPA pilot plant development in WA.

Suvo Strategic Minerals has received $380,236 from the Federal government for R & D work on its low carbon cement research under the Federal Government’s R&D Incentive Scheme. The Perth-based company’s licensed proprietary “Colliecrete” technology has achieved a greenhouse gas emissions reduction of about 50 per cent compared to ordinary Portland cement.

Larvotto Resources has gained membership of a consortium that provides a gateway to seek funding from and supply products to organizations associated with the US Defence Department. Larvotto says its Hillgrove project in NSW is capable of supplying 7 per cent of the world’s antimony needs, a highly sort after metal that is used in the manufacturing of ammunition.

Horizon Minerals has kicked off mining activities at its Phillips Find gold project outside Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. Pre-strip mining operations are underway at the joint venture with first gold ore expected to be mined from the Newhaven and Newminster open pits at the project by next month.

Thunderbird Resources has slipped into prime gold-antimony territory in NSW with its imminent acquisition of two exploration licences, one of which partly encloses Larvotto Resources’ Hillgrove project. Hillgrove hosts Australia’s largest antimony deposit, with a mineral resource of 7.3 million tonnes going 4.4g/t gold and 1.3 per cent antimony for about 1.04 million ounces of gold and 93,000 tonnes of antimony

BMG Resources is preparing to probe high-grade gold zones at its Abercromby gold project in a round of extensional drilling designed to expand the company’s current maiden 518,000 ounce gold resource at Wiluna. The program was flagged two weeks ago following the company’s successful $1.5 million capital raise from sophisticated and institutional investors and it is now fully-funded to complete expansion drilling at Abercromby and to progress development studies.

In a masterclass of timing, Octava Minerals will start a 3000m drill program next week at its Yallalong antimony project, 220km from Geraldton, WA, just as the metal price hits an all-time high of $30,000/t. The campaign will initially target the Discovery and Central zones which have already secured heritage clearance, while the company also completes a geophysical survey.
