West Perth-based Definitiv is set to bolster its Asia Pacific reach after being bought by fellow software company The Access Group.
Today, The Access Group announced it had purchased Definitiv – a human resources and payroll management software company led by two-time Business News 40under40 award winner Roy Mellon – for an undisclosed sum.
Mr Mellon founded Definitiv with wife Laura Mellon in 2013 and launched the platform (initially as payroll management software) three years later.
In the past five years, Definitiv has contracted to 350 companies – supporting a combined 50,000 employees – across 27 industries and processed $2.5 billion in payments.
It has also launched four mobile applications, and released 150 updates and four additional modules.
Definitiv’s clients include Atkins Australasia (now part of engineering and construction giant SNC-Lavalin), oil and gas contractor 2H Offshore, livestock exporter Wellard, and meat pie retailer Mrs Mac’s.
The Access Group, which provides similar software to clients in the Asia Pacific region, said the acquisition would strengthen the NSW company’s reach in Western Australia and nationally.
"Definitiv has great talent, technology and a rapidly growing customer base,” The Access Group's Asia Pacific president, Kerry Agiasotis, said.
“Medium to large organisations in the Asia Pacific region face increasing complexity around payroll and workforce management.
“This acquisition will allow us to support them with a simple, built for purpose, scalable award-based and rostering solution."
Mr Mellon will continue to lead Definitiv’s management team, as the company plans to scale up its Asia Pacific operations.
"We are excited to join the Access family,” he said.
“The experience, investment and resources Access brings to the table will help us achieve our geographic expansion plans for the Asia Pacific region."
Mr Mellon, an ex-soldier, is also the chief executive of Proactiv Payroll, having served in the role since 2013.
