Perth Start Up Xsights Digital has been selected to join the inaugural SVG Ventures | THRIVE APAC Accelerator Cohort. APAC Accelerator - THRIVE (thriveagrifood.com)
Selected from hundreds of applications, Xsights will be the only AgriTech business representing Western Australia at THRIVE Silicon Valley Week, which includes business and investor roundtables, networking events, workshops, mentorship sessions and attendance at the World Agri-Tech Innovation Summit, March 14-15, 2023 (worldagritechusa.com).
“This is a fantastic opportunity and a testament to the potential this WA-developed technology has to change animal welfare and livestock farming practices around the world,” Mr Wildisen said.
“Getting in front of American investors is especially exciting given how forward-thinking they can be and how diverse their investment practices are.
“It can be challenging in Australia where much of the investment focus is on the resources industry and there is a reluctance or an inability to see the potential in Australian-developed technology.
“Western Australians in particular are pretty innovative. We’re a long way from the rest of the world, so we get in there and just get things done.”
Xsights is currently finalising its first round of seed investment and has secured $2 million of its $4 million target including funding from cornerstone investor Craig Mostyn Group.
Xsights received further validation for their innovative AgriTech, when awarded the WA Innovator of the Year 2022 Business News ‘Great for the State’ Platinum Award by the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science & Innovation.
Xsights has committed to accelerating commercialisation of their award winning AgriTech XIoT Tag (Xsights IoT Tag) for the agricultural industry as an affordable and scalable solution for provenance tracking and health & welfare monitoring for livestock.
The patented XIoT Tag, utilises the learnings of three pieces of existing technology within a wafer thin IoT inlay, that sits between an animal’s ear and standard ear tag for live data collection to enable remote, real-time, and automated data collection for tracking and monitoring of livestock.
The XIoT tag is currently deployed on farm for pigs with the Craig Mostyn group in WA with support from industry stakeholders, Food Agility CRC, Department of Primary Industries & Regional Development (DPIRD), Curtin University, Pork Innovation of WA (PIWA) and Beanstalk AgTech.
The XIoT Tag, is offered as a Sensing-as-a-Service subscription, enabling users to scale with no significant upfront capital expenditure costs, representing a low cost of entry against defined costs.
