The 32nd Incite Awards, run by the WA Information Technology and Telecommunications Alliance, recognised ICT industry leaders in Western Australia at a function hosted at The Westin Perth on Friday night.
Commercial drone training and services company Global Drone Solutions was named Dr Mal Bryce Western Australian Tech Company of the Year.
Edith Cowan University educator Dr Cook won Achiever of the Year in recognition of his contribution to ICT, his leadership in safe technology usage and for training and educating people in technology.
ECU’s RENAWARE, led by Dr Cook, won the Transformative Solutions award for its system that detects the presence of renal cancer cells and provides an analysis of tissue.
Pearcey Western Australian Entrepreneur of the Year was won by Pia Turcinov, who is an advisor and mentor on topics relating to tech, commercialisation innovation and STEM.
Xsights Digital won the Research and Innovation (Industry) award for its IOT Health Tag for Livestock Health and Welfare Monitoring project to monitor health and welfare of livestock in real-time.
Meanwhile, University of Western Australia student Sania Zahan won the Research and Innovation (Post-graduate) award for her project Human Gesture and Gait Analysis for Autism Detection.
Innovating Government award was won by ECU's Immersive Violence and Aggression De-escalation Experience (IVADE) for frontline healthcare professionals.
Conifr Emissions Management Software was named Startup of the Year and Ascend Health took home the Social Impact award.
Curtin University’s Alastair Kho won the Peter Fillery Undergraduate Tertiary Student Project for his Privacy Preserving Fall Detection project, which uses AI technology to detect falls had by elderly people and prevents prolonged immobilisation on the floor by promptly calling for help.
The Digital Inclusion award was won by AirborneIT, a team of specialists improving access to digital resources, education and experiences.
