Selling up and sizing down – a smart choice into luxury living
Paul Blackburne says his Claremont development is perfect for anyone considering right-sizing.
Located in the centre of some of the most prestigious areas in the Western Suburbs, Blackburne’s managing director said The Grove would check a lot of boxes for locals looking to right size from the family home.
“There is a particular lifestyle that many residents in the Western Suburbs have become accustomed to. We wanted to create a level of luxury with The Grove that maintained the feeling of space and privacy of the family home,” said Mr Blackburne.
“This level of affordable luxury has never been available before in the area. The Grove residences are at a price point that enables locals to cash in the family home, right size, and bank a substantial amount of equity.”
Complete with more luxury amenities than you can count on your hands, The Grove is Blackburne’s most ambitious project to date. The property developer considers its included concierge services and additional assisted living amenities one of the biggest draw cards for older residents.
“With a growing ageing population, we need to be considering how we can develop homes that are designed to encourage people to age in place,” said Mr Blackburne.
“We don’t want residents to consider a move to The Grove as downsizing, but rather a right size, to a place that enables them to remain in one of the most exclusive areas in Perth,” he said.
“We have designed The Grove to be multigenerational, from DINKS (double income, no kids) to retirees looking for the comfort and security of apartment living. The services shouldn’t be seen as assisted living in its traditional sense, but rather assisted lifestyle services helping doing your shopping, setting up for entertaining or picking up drycleaning that can be used as little or as frequently as required by all residents. You only pay for the service that you use.”
The addition of onsite retirement living services has been a successful point of difference in a number of Blackburne’s previous projects including Essence, also located in Claremont, where the majority of residences were sold within three months of completion.
“We have already seen a similar appetite for this project, especially given the large number of expats beginning to return to the state and a severe lack of larger high-end apartments in the area,” said Mr Blackburne.
“Residents shouldn’t think of the butler services in their traditional sense, but rather extra assistance for those who are time poor, require extra support, or simply, don’t wish to run their own errands.”
The Grove offers premium 3-bedroom residences from $1.2m - $5 million all the way through to to 6-bedroom penthouses with panoramic river views over Peppermint Grove and ocean views over Cottesloe.
The Grove is located at 1 Airlie Street in Claremont, and is walking distance from dozens of neighbouring cafés, bars, restaurants and boutiques to cater to the diverse lifestyle choices of its residents.
“You could renovate your existing home at great significant time and cost, or upgrade to a brand new one at The Grove that is at an accessible price point and in one of Western Australia’s most coveted locations.” said Mr Blackburne.
The Grove offers uninterrupted views over the Western Suburbs due to its prime location; spanning the Swan River to Cottesloe beach and Perth’s city skyline.
“We wanted The Grove to be the last move many of our residents have to make, providing extensive services for people over 60 that may want to stay here long term.”
The Grand Launch of the Grove residences took place in November, with many right-sizers taking the opportunity to secure their favourite apartment in this unique project. The Grove residences is anticipated to be mostly sold out before the end of the year with construction scheduled to commence in April 2021. The new $1.2 million display suite is now open on Saturday and Sunday from 10am – 3pm or on Wednesday from 4pm – 6pm. Visit thegroveresidences.com.au for more information.
